- Site Area: 3.5 Acres
- Bldg. Area: 57,000 sq.ft
The Toronto Police Service had determined the optimal police station operational staff size and building area for their new precinct stations.
Based upon this established program, this new 23 Division Police Station in Etobicoke complements the completed 43 Division Police and Ambulance facility in Scarborough. Both sites are located strategically in suburban areas where there is a great demand for police service. This building has an area of 52,400 sq.ft. for a staff size of 300.
The original design of 43 Division Police Station was adopted and adapted at the new site. This building is designed as the central lock up for this part of the City. In both communities, our firm involved the local residents through a series of public meetings to solicit and understand their wishes that are reflected in the final design. The environmental design and Community Based Police approach utilizing extensive plant material, eco features as well as a prominent Community Meeting room and public spaces were well received. This building was completed in the spring of 2007.
