NIAGARA REGIONAL 33 DIVISION POLICE HEADQUARTERS - Welland, Ontario, Canada
|
|||||||||||
Nelson Wong Architect Inc. was appointed this project in association with MPS Reinders Niagara Inc. This project is the first new pilot Police Station in the Niagara Region under a new Strategic Plan of reorganizing the Niagara Regional Police Service. Under police chief Grant Waddell, the new direction calls for Community Based Police facilities. Thus for this police station the Community spaces such as; the main Community Meeting Hall, Community Services Offices, Victim Service/Neighbourhood Watch/Interview Rooms as well as Co-op Student Room are grouped into a cluster of spaces adjacent to the reception area directly accessible to the public in a friendly environment. The Community Hall is expressed prominently as a visual symbol in the residential setting. Internally, there is a courtyard for the police staff, providing a sense of openness, yet security. This project was tendered at 10% below the project budget. |
