Nelson Wong Architect Inc.
Niagara Regional Police Headquarter Study, St. Catharines, ON, Canada

This is a major study for a total Niagara Regional Police Service complement of over 800 persons. The mandate was to review the current operations at the dysfunctional Police Headquarters in downtown St. Catharines and their scattered related facilities. They have outgrown their central building and part of there other facilities are in rented premises. This included buildings for evidence storage, the fleet garage, the Emergency Task Force Unit, the Intelligence Unit, and the Social Services (victims) Unit.

Responsibilities of Nelson Wong Architect Inc*:

We were requested to determine their total projected staff and space requirements, as well as building and site areas including parking requirements. Our firm was requested also to search out the most efficient groupings of these varied headquarter operations and their relationships. We searched out and recommended a location and site in the region for the optimum arrangement based upon weighted evaluation criteria.

Lastly, we prepared the conceptual site plan and design of this Headquarter complex at the preferred site. Project Cost and their breakdown were also determined. A schedule has been prepared from the start of this study to potential phased occupancy dates.
